And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts. And I looked and behold, a pale horse. And his name that sat on it was Death. And Hell followed with him...
Haha, I never thought about that aspect of Matsuda. Before I just thought he was some useless comic foil, but now that you bring that up not only do I have to agree but also commend you on your perceptive analysis. Of course, the flipside is also true, in that the author truly wanted to create the "Is Kira evil?" question, because many didn't think he was and for good reason. I believe that if the reader didn't have a strong stance either way, they wouldn't have enjoyed it as much or at all, as such the author wanted to make sure that the reader did have an opinion.

Oh wow. I've never seen the English dubbed anime, just the English subbed one, but that laugh is great. But if I recall correctly, that's before he goes really nuts, right? If that's the case, then the placement of this "crazy" laugh was effective, because at that point, he still thinks he has a slim chance of winning.

Is it just me, or wouldn't have been a smart idea to hide Death Note pages all over the place as soon as you found out it worked. Someone as smart as Light surely would perceive that the cops would eventually be after him, and that he might need some backups especially if the Death Note should somehow fall out of his possession. Sure, he had the bit in his watch, but we found out how well that worked. Really, the point at which Light lost was when he failed to realize that the pages he was planning to use were fake. He knew that some were, and tried to plan around that. An easy fix for all of that would've been to go grab one of his backup pages. No one but him would know of it's existence because it would have been hidden well before anyone was even watching him. Well, there's my two cents.

To continue the Batman analogy, Light is totally the Joker, but he's a reverse polarity Joker. Still the bad guy, but trying to bring about order instead of chaos.

I KNOWWWW!!! I hated that cursed day when the awesome Borders Express was no more. They had such a good selection of manga it wasn't even funny. Speaking of manga and also of Death Note, you should read Bakuman. It's by the same artist and writer duo as Death Note and is about two high school students aspiring to actually become mangaka. Here's a link: [link]
It's totally awesome.

Yay, I've been commended! Woot! I really liked the fact that Death Note went into some deep, fundamentally-challenged plots! It was so complex and I do so love a story with twists in it! I loved Matsuda, he was awesome! Woot! Lol!

I like the dubbed ones. Some of them suck, but Death Note was one of the better dubs, so I didn't mind watching it. I had a favorite site for watching them, but it was recently taken down! I was so sad! :( :( :(

OMG, Doug, YOU'RE KIRA!!!!!!! Lol! Who else would have thought to take extra sheets of paper around with you or whatnot! Yesh, I agree that Light should have been more alert. I think it was funny that he'd been going for about five years and then all of a sudden made one tiny mistake and it was all caput!

Woot! Batman! Lol!

I only recently got into manga, so I never bothered to look at their selection at the mall! :( I did start reading Bakuman yesterday, actually and I think I'm on chapter three! I must say, the main character's uncle's smile/smirk was kreeeeeeeeepy! :paranoid: It's pretty good and I'll probably finish it, but right now I'm working on Fullmetal Alchemist! It's so addicting! I'm on chapter 25 right now! Yay! But after that I'll probably return to Bakuman! Yay! I hate my friend for getting me into mangas, 'cause now I can't put them down! I must say, they are my guilty pleasure! One of my friends caught me reading it one day and she was all "OMG, lyke what r yoo reeding omg?!?!?" and I was all "Oh... just some manga thing." It sucks that most of my friends associate manga with childish cartoons, thus, associate me with children. They'd totally think differently if I could just force them to read the first volume of Death Note! So I keep it mostly to myself and call it my guilty pleasure! Lol!

TOMATO + POTATO = POMATO (duh.) ;)
You know, I've noticed a lot online manga and anime related things being shutdown or going under recently. I hope it doesn't become a trend.

I wouldn't mind being Kira, honestly. I tend to take a proactive stance, so whether or not humanity would eventually weed the scum out of itself (I don't believe it would), I would still decide to make that time now and just get things done. And once everyone is done fighting, they can concentrate on other things and some scientists can create the technology required to upload my mind into a prosthetic body, and then I wouldn't have to worry about wherever it is people that have used a Death Note go after they die, cause I'd never die!

And now, on to more serious matters. The association that manga and anime have with being childish is something that will not disappear within our lifetimes. You will always have to deal with it. The best way to combat this is to become informed about the differences between anime and "cartoons", and manga and "comic strips", though it is much easier to draw contrast in the prior. Also, introduce as many people as you can to the good anime and manga that you have seen. All to often you find someone that hates anime solely due to the reason that the first, and last, one they have seen is something crappy like Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh. If you like, I can provide you with some important points on each and ways in which to use them intelligently. There may come a day when the courage of otaku fails, but today... IS NOT THAT DAY!

I hope so too! It's just really sad! I mean, they'll just have to put them back up when books become outlawed to save trees! Lol!

GAH! Don't kill me, okay, Kira? Lol!

Yeah, I've gotten one of my friends into it and she's watched the first two episodes of Death Note which is nearly like the mangas themselves. She saw Ryuk and was all "Holy crap, this is creepy and dark!" And we went to the mall later and went into the Unique Imports store and they had this entire shelf of anime character plushies! They had L, Light, I think... oh, and many FF plushies like Cloud, Sephiroth, Kadaj, Squall (I call him Leon since I first met him in Kingdom Hearts! Lol!), etc. Oh, and Demyx from Kingdom Hearts II! I cringe every time I see him, 'cause it took me literally three weeks to beat him on medium! Gawd... But anyway, we also saw this statue of Ryuk and she was all "Oh, it's the creepy clown thing!" I had to laugh at that, but at least she had retained what she'd watched! By the way, awesome battle speech! THIS... IS... MANGA!!!!!!

And for your viewing and listening pleasure--> [link] :lmao:

TOMATO + POTATO = POMATO (duh.) ;)
How dare you, blasphemer! Books will be the only thing left after technology turns against us in favor of greener pastures!

Excellent, most excellent. Perhaps someday the entire world will at least know the distinction, if not also be otaku. Nonono... nevermind. An entire world of otaku, that might be a bit much for even the most hardcore person. Anyway, yeah, that Unique Imports store is totally badass, but, I've never seen this Ryuk statue. How much was it and when did you see it, because I'm a sucker for epic stuff like that.
Ha, glad you liked the speech. I've been told by some that I can be really... intense when I try at it. Although, it probably comes from memorizing the epic speeches in so many movies and shows, then utilizing the style and feel of their speech to suit my specific situation. Sometimes people feel the need to calm me down, but I don't need their "calmness". I'm a warrior. A warrior for that which I know to be true and geeky. I will not fight for trivial matters such as which Gundam is the most powerful, but for the real issues, like, is Pokemon an anime (it isn't). Many have died before me while fulfilling this noble calling. They aren't here anymore. But in my obligatory anime tshirt, and in my heart, WE WILL LIVE ON AS ONE!
